Alleys make up a large portion of Detroit neighborhoods. The City of Detroit stopped maintaining alleys in the late 1980s, granting control to homeowners and relying on residents to maintain the spaces. An important part of our community development work is ensuring that alleys are not neglected. There are a number of ways for folks to help with alley activation. One way is maintenance! Canfield Consortium is hosting a volunteer day to cut down weeds and overgrown grass and clear out debris.
